Propane Benefits

The Benefits of Mowing with Propane

With propane-powered mowers, dealers can offer their customers a clean mower fuel that is typically much less expensive than gasoline or diesel and which reduces U.S. dependence on foreign oil.

  • Propane is a clean-burning fuel which substantially reduces greenhouse gas and other harmful emissions
    • Running mowers on propane reduces your carbon footprint, meaning your equipment will reduce emissions of harmful Carbon Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, Nitrous Oxide and particulate matter
    • Using propane-powered mowers provides opportunities for green branding
  • Propane delivers comparable performance to gasoline and diesel (using about a gallon an hour)
    • Propane provides longer run times than gasoline with dual propane tanks each providing 7.5 gallons for a total of 15 gallons
    • Powering a mower on propane extends engine life
  • Propane costs an average of $1.00 less than conventional gasoline
    • Propane is traditionally much less expensive than gasoline or diesel, usually offering more stable pricing
    • Particularly during summer months when the demand for mowers is greatest and gasoline prices spike, propane is typically at its lowest cost point
  • Propane is domestically produced
    • 90 percent of our nation’s propane is produced here in the U.S.
    • Another 7 percent comes from Canada
    • Propane is produced primarily from domestic natural gas and crude oil refining
